2002 DL 1000 to current DL 1050 Suzuki, all SV 1000, and Kawasaki KLV 1000 have a design problem with the factory clutch baskets. As these wear they begin to make metallic noises from the clutch cover area and can have strong vibrations in the 2000-4000 rpm range as you accelerate through that rpm range. There are other vibrations in the higher rpms caused by the main bearing wearing off center. These vibrations are called "Clutch Chudder". WERKS modified clutch baskets are engineered to correct the flawed factory design. They are smoother than a new out of the box OEM basket and stay that way! Read on to see what costs and options are available, as well as information on the process to modify the baskets.
We want to be sure you are buying the right parts for your bike. Meaning we don't want to sell you a new basket if you really would be better off with an exchange unit or having your basket sent in for modification. When shipping a basket for modification, we want to see the basket and inspect it for shipping or other damage before payment is made. During peak season demands we sometimes run out of core baskets to build, meaning no exchange baskets are in stock to ship....so we don't want payment made until they are available. Starting in 2021, there will be periods of weeks at a time when I will be out of the shop. No clutch basket shipping or exchange refunds possible during these periods. So, it is very important to contact WERKS Parts BEFORE you are ready to ship or buy a basket to insure availability. See Contact Form below.
The best way to get started is to fill out the contact form. I need to know bike year, model, shipping address, phone, name, e-mail. I will get back to you with either an e-mailed invoice that you can pay online, or the information you are after. Calls are welcome, but it is easier to put information into the computer from an e-mail.
Typically I send invoices that allow online payment with a credit card. This is for US customers only. If you prefer a PayPal invoice, I can send those instead.
International customers ALL must pay via PayPal. You do NOT have to open an account with them ( checkout as a guest ) and you can use credit cards to pay the PayPal invoice.
Fill out the "message" part of the contact form with what you are wanting to buy. I.E. Do you want the exchange program? Standard or Pro Build? New build? What other parts do you want shipped back with basket purchase?

We ship a modified clutch basket built on a good used core basket. You install that one and then ship back your old basket. That is put into the program for the next customer. There is a core charge. We also ask that you make a commitment to return your old basket in a timely manner for the refund and to keep this program working for others.
Once your old basket arrives back at the shop and is unbroken or otherwise not rebuildable due to attempts at modifications, a prompt refund will be made right after inspection. The refund amount is $100 for US customers. $20 is the net cost for the Exchange Program.
Once your old basket arrives back at the shop and is unbroken or otherwise not rebuildable due to attempts at modifications, a prompt refund will be made right after inspection. The refund amount on International Exchange baskets is $130. Same net cost of $20 as US customers.
Shipping costs to Canada typically add $40 to the listed costs of modifications.
Shipping costs to other Countries typically add $75. There may be VAT, Customs fees, and other taxes. These are the responsibility of the customer.
Most customers go with the OEM gasket, OEM hub nut, EBC clutch hub tool to install a WERKS clutch basket
This is a special nut with a flange on one side that is there to be peened down into the slot on the transmission shaft. This nut holds the inner clutch hub assembly in place.
Locks the inner hub and clutch basket together so you can loosen/tighten the inner hub nut. The right tool for the job.
OEM gasket comes with seal bead around water ports. Graphite surface is designed to go on dry. No sealers needed.
Goes between the shaft bushing and the bore on the clutch basket. Does not normally need replaced. Nice for new basket installations as those come with a new bushing also. These have what appears to be two rollers missing! This is correct!
