Please don't ship requiring a signature. Too often delivery persons won't come to the shop in back. That can delay getting the baskets for a few days at times.
US customers typically will get clutch parts from the US Postal Service. Windshields from UPS or FedEx. International clutch baskets are shipped UPS typically. Canada will be either UPS or US Postal Service.
Customers are responsible for shipping costs to return their old basket core for refunds due from the exchange program. WERKS Parts uses a specialized packaging process to ship the modified basket to the customer. Pay close attention to how they are packaged when opening the boxes! This makes it much easier to place the core basket into the same packaging for safer return.
We only need the clutch basket ( Primary Gear, driven- in Suzuki terms). Which is the aluminum basket with the riveted on steel gear. There is a small steel gear on the backside of the basket, held on with a large snap ring. This is the oil pump drive gear. It can be left on if you wish as we have the correct tool to remove it and reinstall it easily for you. We do NOT want the inner hub or any of the clutch discs!
The most reliable method to ship these is to cut corrugated cardboard into strips around 4" tall. Place 3 layers of these around the outer diameter of the basket, using a bit of tape to keep them in place. No need for anything inside the basket. The fingers on the aluminum basket are very fragile and easily broken in shipping. This comes from being smacked into something hard, especially when the basket is loose in a box! So, take the time to pack it tightly in the box so it stays centered and is cushioned. Putting the basket into a smaller box, then that box into a bigger one with the void filled with packing material never hurts! Customers are responsible for adequate packing and if one arrives broken we will contact you right away in case you want to put a claim in with the shipper.
SHIPPING DAMAGE: Any shipping damage MUST be reported within 24 hours of receipt of package! Damage caused by dropping the clutch basket, damage caused by tools inserted in the basket to hold it are NOT covered by warranty or shipping insurance!
I deal with broken baskets several times a year. I HATE to make calls or e-mails to owners to tell them their basket arrived broken. If you package the basket in bubble wrap, peanuts, or air filled bags without properly wrapping it in a substantial protective shield.....the chance of it arriving in good shape isn't much over 50%.
The exchange program requires you to ship back your old basket so it can help the next customer. PAY ATTENTION to how I have the WERKS modified basket packaged and ship yours back exactly the same way. Most of the time the packaging is good to be reused. I have never had a broken basket arrive coming or going when packed this way!
The picture shows a typical order going out. The cardboard angles are there to absorb shock. They should be put back in the same way when returning a core basket! I always ship in TWO boxes! Very important to have the inside box TIGHTLY packed so there is NO movement. Movement causes breakage! Other shipments may have cardboard between the inner and out boxes. Try to put your core basket back the same way as it the WERKS basket was shipped. Shipping back a core basket in just the smaller inner box doesn't always end well.....
All that is needed is the clutch basket itself. That will be the aluminum part and the steel gear. This assembly is held together with rivets. Do not ship any discs or inner hub parts!
There is an oil pump gear on the back of the baskets. Held on with a large snap ring. If you don't have a set of large snap ring pliars you can leave that gear in place on the basket. I will remove and replace it for you.
